Client Evaluations
I couldn't come across a entire lot of reviews of this item when I was shopping so I'm creating it a point to critique it for future shoppers.
First factors initially. There are a variety of websites that state that this is a CD-R player. I can assure you that there is NO CD player on this unit. It is strictly SD card, USB, and radio.
I also located one particular owners manual that stated how to get rid of the detachable face. nicely there is no "detachable face" its a one particular piece unit.
The initial issue I noticed when I pulled it out of the box is that it is tremendously light. (I am thinking cheaply created) it might be then again that it just doesn't have a cd player in there to weigh it down i do not know.
Right after a couple days of use, I have decided that it is quite cheaply made, the volume knob is grinding and i can really feel considerable resistance on components of the rotation. It is also type of loose or wabbly. (technical term)
Another downside I've identified is that I can't search tracks or directories in USB mode like I thought I was going to be able to do. So now I've got like 600 songs on a flash drive plugged into it and the only factor I can do is skip ahead by 1 track or skip ahead by 10 tracks at a time. It does list what the song title is and the directory that it really is in but I cannot search via the directories at all.
There are a couple completely different owners manuals for this issue. 1 is on pyles webpage, but it is several than the one that came with my unit. The a single on plyles web pages offers detailed intructions on how to search through directories, (which does not operate) and on my manual there is no indication of how to do so.
But when i press the button to search for tracks i do get a "trk srch" display, but when i turn the volume knob to basically search via them (as per pyles web site) the only thing that happens is the volume goes up :)
It seems to be a decent unit for the price. $73 plus shipping so i can't complain also a lot. radio and weather band operate as described. I have not plugged an sd card in there however so i can't comment on that function.

I purchased this unit mainly for the "marine" aspect of it considering that it's going in my jeep wrangler that normally sees some stray water inside of the car. we'll see how it holds up.
I only gave this unit a single star considering that I could not give it NO stars.
This unit failed inside a month of installing it on my boat. At that point, it was a bit dinged up from the installation procedure, and I had currently disposed of the packing it came in. Immediately after it got wet when rain blew into the bridge in the course of a thunderstorm one night, I heard anything topside and went up to investigate. The radio was ON and PLAYING, possibly resurrected by the lightning.
"It's aliiiive! It really is alliiiiiivve!" (apologies to Dr Frankenstein)
This unit is cheaply manufactured, the knob is very insubstantial and the readout is unreadable in just the tiniest bit of sunlight. Besides, the display is monochrome. I didn't think any one produced those anymore. One major gripe: It will not let you manually tune in stations, which suggests that if a station's signal is not honestly robust, the radio will scan perfect on past.
At this point, I can not manage the majority of functions from the front-panel buttons, only through the remote, so it operates -- sort of.
Do not purchase a single of these for use in any sort of "harsh" atmosphere, which probably also includes any highway car that might possibly get parked in the sun or into which a small rain could fall. Pay the additional bucks and get a excellent unit!
