I don't know why you would purchase the alternative. I ripped out my PAC SWI jack simply because it would not perform right. Connected the simple three wires on this unit, turned on the ignition, and the unit programmed itself in about 30 seconds. And it works superb! I have all my buttons operating on my Chevy truck steering wheel. When I had the PAC SWI Jack installed, it took the installer quite a even though to system it, and then I lost two of my steering wheel buttons given that he mentioned it just wont function. Now I have almost everything and it only took me about ten minutes to install the whole issue. And I have in no way done this just before. The website instructions were ideal and very easy.
I purchased this unit to restore my Steering Wheel Interface Manage that I lost when I upgraded from my Factory stock radio. I researched the Metra Web web site and it showed that the Metra Axxess ASWC would operate with the JVC after market Radio. Well, the JVC head unit I bought was a KD-AHD69 model and this Metra Axxess ASWC would not perform at all. I followed the instruction to the TEE . I printed out the Automobile certain instructions per the Metra internet webpage and did Specifically as it mentioned to do when installing and programming. No dice.....
Nicely, I surmised that the JVC KD-AHD69 model was also "new" to be compatible with the Axxess ASWC unit and it would not function devoid of some form of Axxess ASWC computer software patch or something, and Metra internet site did not mention anything of that sort....
SO, what did I do? I re-packaged up the item the way it came and contacted Amazon to see if they would authorize the return. Amazon was fabulous. They contacted "Discountjungle" who sold the product through Amazon website. Discountjungle sent me a return label (postage paid) so that I can return this and be correctly credited. At least the Vendor and Amazon service worked. I would acquire from Amazon once again....
Conclusion? If your HEADUNIT is fairly new, I would not acquire this unit till you get the Manufacturer's assurance that this would perform....
