Consumer Evaluations

Following reading all the negative reviews of this item I took a opportunity anyway. This small stereo is pure junk. The tuning roams all over by itself and lets all the signals run together so you are unable to pull in one particular clear station. Rather than bother returning it, I took it to my workshop and destroyed it as a betterment to mankind. Just a handful of dollars alot more will purchase a Dual XR4115 that is a far superior stereo.

I've had improved radios. The PLR16MPF's tuner sensitivity is lacking and it is very drifty. I do not know if it is a difficulty with the PLL design or with noisy power in the car but it will not stay on freq. far more than about a half hour. I bought it for the SD card/USB memory stick compatibility anyway and that works as advertised.
Note that there are NO audio contour controls at all..no treble or bass.. so if the output is in reality flat all of your sound top quality will be from your speakers and the quality of the audio source. Low-priced speakers will sound cheap and high priced speakers will sound high-priced. Likewise poor recording will be extremely obvious.
Anyway, it is not poor for a $30 or so radio, it fills the hole and tends to make sound. The rating is for the item NOT for the seller.
