Customer Critiques

Bought this radio on-line from Walmart and shipped to retailer. Also paid for the 3 year extended warranty. And then paid $130 to have it professionally installed at Perfect Obtain. A month later later the radio (am and fm) cease working. Called the Extended Warranty number and they considering that it was inside 90 days, to return it to the store for an Exchange, I stated they don't carry it in the shop and she said that I HAD to go into the retailer to deal with it. So trek into the store and the nearby assistant manager (who was amazing to operate with) confirmed that not only do not they carry it in-stock, but it's a discontinued item so he cannot EVER get a replacement. So we both contact the Extended Warranty number once again (with the store manager top the charge) and their resolution was to present to refund acquire price tag... but then we're out the $130 installation fee (they would not cover that). The ONLY resolution they stated was to contact Boss Audio straight and they would handle the return/repair. If I thought factors had been bad ahead of, it only got worse...
Boss Consumer service mentioned that we can ship it in to them for repair... and it would take 1-3 weeks AND we had to spend the shipping there PLUS an additional $20 for shipping it BACK. I explained this product was installed for barely a month and need to be covered... he mentioned the broken parts and labor would be covered (gee thanks!) but that their "free of charge return" period had EXPIRED since they start counting it from the day the item was in fact ORDERED, not the day it was received by us... so that week while it was getting shipped to the neighborhood Walmart counted against us and price us $40 in shipping! NO WAY About IT he said. The Walmart retailer manager was so amazed he in reality gave us a $20 gift card to assist cover the expense, even tho it had nothing to do with Walmart at this point.
So the radio got shipped to BOSS on December 14th (delivery confirmation). Wait a day or two and then named to check on it... they confirmed it had been received the day just before but that it was "on hold" because we didn't have proof of purchase. I asked them when they were planning on notifying us that was a prerequisite... but emailed them the receipt Instantly and got a return email back confirming it had been received and was not in queue for repair.
It's now December 27th and I call to check the status of the repair. I did not have my RMA but gave them my name. No record. We tried several occasions, no record. Right after several minutes of looking emails for the RMA or some information, I asked if they could look it up any other way and the dolt says "oh, ya... by your address..." (DOIH). They acquire it immediately and discover they had slaughtered the spelling of my last name. He fixed that. As for the status of the repair... well, it apparently hasn't even been LOOKED at but by a technician. NOT EVEN LOOKED AT Yet, just sitting in some pile waiting for someone to confirm it's broken and issue a new 1. UGH. I asked if there was any way to expedite the procedure (it's Christmas and the kid is going crazy with out his stereo in his automobile!) and was told "nope. 1-three weeks from the time we receive it and it wasn't place into their program until Dec 19th" I asked if they could update me with the status and he said "nope" - absolutely nothing to do but just wait.
A item failing 30 days following installation and getting the manufacturer's warranty becoming crappier than the three year extended service strategy... this is terrible customer service and NOT the way to run a provider... Though the kid likes the radio itself (for the 30 some days it was actually operating), neither of us would EVER advise a Boss Audio Product to Anyone, ever. We all know even the finest merchandise can fail, but that is when superior buyer service and support should kick in to make the return/exchange/repair as straightforward and painless as possible... I want to acquire from a company that stands behind its product adequate to at least cover return shipping on a brand new device that fails soon after 30 days
